Matsumoto's Department (Department of Empirical Social Security Research).
With a background in economics, Dr. Sato received her Ph.D degree in international public policy from Osaka School of International Public Policy (OSIPP, Osaka University).
Dr. Sato is interested in social security systems and public finance, paying particular attention to the relation between medical institutions, patients, insurers, government, and other health
policy actors.
"Someday", she says, "I want to make the whole system clear from financial aspects econometrically and establish some simulation model." Dr. Sato has also carried out medical analyses using
micro-data, and has been doing research on pharmaceuticals and addictive behavior like smoking, drinking, etc.
