In 2005 the Health Policy Network has begun to combine activities with the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. The European Observatory supports and promotes evidence-based health policy-making through comprehensive and rigorous analysis of health care systems in Europe. It is a partnership between the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe, the Governments of Belgium, Finland, Greece, Norway, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden, the Veneto Region of Italy, the European Investment Bank, the Open Society Institute, the World Bank, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Our work is complementary and synergistic. In a first step we have established links between our country information pages, thus facilitating access to and use of the information, resources, and tools offered at both sites.

Health Systems in Transition (HiT) profiles are country-based reports that provide a detailed description of each health care system and of reform and policy initiatives in progress or under development. The HiTs can be downloaded in PDF format from the website of the European Observatory. Click here to download HiT profiles from the European Observatory website.
