Biographical Note

Reinhard Busse, MD, MPH, is professor and department head for health care management at Technische Universität Berlin. He pursues research in three areas: analysis of European health systems, health technology assessment, and hospital management with particular emphasis on health outcomes. Until April 2002, he was head of the Madrid hub of the European Observatory on Health Care Systems, for which he is now an associate research director, supervising the "Health Care Systems in Transition" profiles of the central European countries and co-directing the study on "Social Health Insurance countries in western Europe".
